FROM SOUILLAC IN THE SOUTH COAST

In the morning visit the old port of Souillac “the Battelage”. Then take a quad bike experience that operates from “Andrea Lodge” on the beautiful South coast.

The tour takes you from rugged cliffs on the south coast of the island through sugar cane fields, and forests. Visit Rochester falls and cascade Leon which are places where few people go and off the beaten tracks.

Then visit a plantation house, its rum factory at Saint Aubin. Follow it by a delicious Mauritian lunch in a picturesque 1819 decor.

 

FROM LE MORNE / PETITE RIVIÈRE NOIRE / TAMARIN BAY ON THE WEST COAST

From one of the most beautiful lagoons of the island. Visit the village of Chamarel, the seven coloured earth, Ebony Forest & La Villeon natural forest.

Then move along to la Rhumerie de Chamarel and enjoy a tasting of rum after seeing how it is made. Followed it by lunch at at le Chamarel Restaurant which offers panoramic views off the west coast.

Return and spend the afternoon on-board or visit Benitier islet with the tender boat. Admire the sunset and might even have the chance to see the high summit of Reunion Island on the horizon.

Spend a peaceful night in the bay of Grand Rivière Noir protected from strong winds by the majestic southwest mountains.

 

FROM ALBION / PORT LOUIS / BALACLAVA

Sail along the west coast. Dock at the Caudan Marina to disembark in the Caudan Waterfront in Port Louis.

Visit the market and go for a walk in the city to get a feel of the Capital.

For those opting for a day excursion, you will have the opportunity to visit the Domaine de Labourdonnais. Sugar Estate with its castle and its beautiful gardens and old orchards.

At Balaclava or Mont Choisy, the beautiful sandy beaches shaded by filaos will welcome you. Admire the sunset with the Moka mountain range in the background.

 

 

FROM GRAND BAY IN THE NORTH.

After an early morning swimming, snorkelling or kayaking at leisure. For those wanting to visit the mainland, get to the the Garden of Pamplemousses. Discover the lush vegetation and exceptional flora of this oldest botanical garden of the southern hemisphere.

This will help you understand the importance of sugarcane and its role in forging the history of the island. Take a visit of the the sugar museum at l’aventure du sucre.

The islands of the North are a must stop with a night at anchorage. Stay either at the foot of the cliff of Coin de Mire, where snorkelling and diving are truly spectacular, or in the sheltered lagoon between flat island and ilot gabriel.

 

FROM TROU D’EAU DOUCE / MAHEBOURG IN THE SOUTH EAST.

Imagine waking up at anchorage in the typical village of trou d’eau douce, in Grand Port near Trou Moutou or by Ile aux aigrettes.

The lagoon of the South East of the island is the largest and stretches from Trou d’eau Douce on the East Coast to Blue Bay in the South East.

This playground has many excellent diving sites inside and outside of the lagoon. It offers some spectacular sceneries with the grand port mountain range in the backdrop.

Land based activities here are more in line with nature. Visit nature reserves such as la valley de ferney or ile aux aigrettes nature reserve.

This is the home to one of the islands only restored endemic forests with shelters the olive eye and the Pink Pigeon.

The historic village of Mahebourg with its naval museum. A lovely way to discover this part of the island is on the Electrobike.

It will take you all along the coast line from Beau vallon to Vieux grand port and through the back streets of villages.

You will visit the remains of the oldest cemetery on the island, the historic site of the vieux grand port and the Dutch Fort Frederik Hendrick of great archaeological interest.

If lucky you might even witness a typical pirogue regatta in this typical part of the island.
